Art in the Pub/Club is happy to announce ‘In Conversation’ with Artist, Arash Chehelnabi and deputy director and head of studies at National Art School, Simon Cooper. Arash and Simon will discuss the artists current solo exhibition at Tweed Regional Gallery and the partnership program for emerging painters from the Masters of painting and Tweed Regional Gallery.
In 2021 Sydney-based artist Arash Chehelnabi undertook a residency in the Gallery’s Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio to develop new work for his solo exhibition This Our Machine, an outcome of the Tweed Regional Gallery – National Art School Masters of Fine Art Residency Award.
The exhibition THIS OUR MACHINE explores the relationship between image, imagination and interpretation in painting. As artists we claim to distort or abstract images when we paint. Yet this is not entirely correct. The object is already abstracted through the cognitive process of perception and imagination.
This is a collaborative event between c.a.s.e (contemporary art space and education) and Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre.
Please note that due to flood damage to our pub venue, Art in the Pub/Club will be at the Ex-Services Club in July and is on a Tuesday evening. Hope to see you there!
