Artist Rene Bolten’s new series of oil paintings Still Life: More than just Objects offer still lifes that are more than paintings of things. Rather, they are a document of memories, distances between and, although perhaps seemly odd combinations, they intimately explore the personal connection the artist has to his subject matter.

These are objects that Bolten has painted over and over again in different configurations throughout his life, loaded with memory and translated into paintings that carry story, humour and deeply held reminiscences.
