Go Figure unites collection pieces with sculpture to celebrate human form
The human form is celebrated in Go Figure: works from the collection, a new exhibition at Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre from Friday 13 October 2017 until Sunday 21 October 2018.
Drawing from the Gallery’s collection, Go Figure showcases dynamic representations of the human figure.
The exhibition also includes spectacular works in bronze by renowned sculptor Rayner Hoff and his students Marjorie Fletcher and Barbara Tribe, on loan to the Gallery from the private collection of a member of Marjorie Fletcher’s family. These sculptures form the physical and conceptual centrepiece of a diverse display of works from the Gallery’s collection.
“We are so fortunate to have these significant works loaned to the Gallery for the duration of the exhibition,” Tweed Regional Gallery Director Susi Muddiman OAM said.
“One of the primary focus areas of the Gallery’s collection is Australian portraits, so these bronze sculptures form a unique and interesting dialogue with our existing holdings.
“Exhibitions like this are also a wonderful opportunity to display new acquisitions to our collection, as well as works which have not been seen by the public for quite some time.”
Artists featured include Stephen Dupont, Petrina Hicks,Guy Maestri, Angus McDonald, Rod McNicol, Ben Quilty, Monica Rohan and Anne Zahalka.
All are welcome to join Don Mitchell, son of Marjorie Fletch, for an exhibition talk on Sunday 25 February 2018 at 2pm (DST), about the sculptures featured in Go Figure.
