Drop Into the Cool of the Gallery on Australia Day
22 January 2018
Lots to enjoy at the Gallery on the public holiday
Parents looking for a cool way to spend Australia Day with the kids are encouraged to check out what’s happening at the Tweed Regional Gallery.
Gallery Director Susi Muddiman said a day spent with the family enjoying the exhibitions and activities on offer is a great way to beat the heat.
“The Gallery has lots of fun holiday activities for families and kids to enjoy and it definitely beats being burnt to a crisp on the beach,” Ms Muddiman said.
“If you haven’t dropped by yet this summer Australia Day is a great opportunity to visit before school holidays end.
“The Gallery Café is getting into the spirit as well with some special Australia Day treats on their menu including Aussie burgers and lamingtons.”
Free activities for kids include working through the puzzles in the kids’ guide or using your imagination to create a digital artwork on the iPads in the Margaret Olley Art Centre.
In conjunction with the fun exhibition The Adventures of Aecap by artist Alasdair Macintyre, kids can interact with Aecap and his furry offsider Impasto, complete the activity booklet or play with the Hug Monster.
“The Café’s verandahs and the pavilion are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Tweed River and valley while the Gallery Shop will also be open for anyone interested in holiday retail therapy,” Ms Muddiman said.
