Insights into Gallery and Museum collections and special exhibitions
The Tweed Regional Gallery and Tweed Regional Museum continue their regular AUSLAN interpreted tours, with the next tour taking place on Saturday 15 September.
The tours are an opportunity to visit both facilities on the same day when staff and volunteers will provide insights into collections and special exhibitions on display.
Gallery Education Officer Jodi Ferrari said the upcoming AUSLAN-interpreted tour would focus on new exhibitions on display.
“These include Three Decades: celebrating the Tweed Regional Gallery collection, and the immersive exhibition Experimenta Make Sense, an exhibition that expresses the disconcerting and delightful world of the digital age,” Ms Ferrari said.
“The Gallery is celebrating its 30th birthday this year and this tour is a great opportunity for our deaf and hearing impaired visitors to connect with the richness and diversity of our collection. Together with a diverse range of other exhibitions currently on display at the Gallery, it’s a great time to visit.”
Museum Director Judy Kean said past tours of the Museum had been very well received by the deaf and hearing impaired community.
“Highlights for this occasion will be the first AUSLAN interpreted tour of the new Adrian Smith Mineral Collection, and the Museum’s temporary exhibition Chutney, Chooks and Champions: stories from the show,” Ms Kean said.
“Our Collectors Cabinet currently features some props from the German and English series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, filmed in the Tweed. We're delighted to able to once again collaborate with the Gallery to offer this program."
The Museum tour will take place between 10am and 11am, and there is time for a leisurely coffee or lunch before embarking on the Gallery tour at 12.30pm.
The tour is free however numbers are strictly limited and bookings are essential.
